Met-L-Chek® RLP-1 -Water-Based Visible Fluorescent Penetrant
RLP-1 is a water-based, dual light response visible and fluorescent (Type 3) penetrant. It is designed for through leak testing and general metal working surface flaw detection and gives visible red indications under white light and fluorescent orange indications under UV-A illumination. In the fluorescent mode of inspection smaller discontinuities may be detected than in the visible mode. It is a biodegradable penetrant being free of solvents and oils making it useful for inspection on plastics that may be attacked by more traditional penetrants. Being a water based penetrant it may be diluted with water to fit the inspection needs. The most common dilutions are 1:1 and 3:1 water to RLP-1. For Method C applications it is used with E-59, E-59A, R-503, and R-504. Download TDS.

Met-L-Chek® Wlf-71 – Fluorescent Liquid Dye Additive
WLF-71 is a liquid dye additive which dissolves in water making the water fluoresce under UV-A ( ultra violet) light. This dye additive is commonly used to help locate leaks in large storage tanks but can also be used to locate leaks in small water reservoirs such as radiators. In practice, it is dissolved in the water in the tank, and then suspected areas of leakage, such as riveted or welded seams, are examined on the exterior of the tank, using a UV-A light. Any place where the water has leaked through the tank will show up as a fluorescent wet spot. Download TDS.

EMULSIFIERS
Met-L-Chek® E-50 – Lipophilic Emulsifier
E-50 is a Method B lipophilic inspection penetrant emulsifier used with VP-31A red visible (Type 2) penetrant. It is designed to be sprayed onto the post emulsifiable penetrant to render the penetrant water washable. It is a fast acting emulsifier so very short contact time with the penetrant is required. Some users apply the emulsifier by brush and flow on techniques but these methods are not as efficient as spray.
E-50 emulsifier is ideal for use on rough castings and other metal surfaces which tend to retain penetrant readily, which causes high background and difficulty in evaluating indications.It is effective in rendering most light oily soils water washable and has been used as a pre-wash cleaner for tough to clean surfaces. It has found use as a concrete cleaner for the removal of oily residues. The emulsifier is applied, allowed to soak in for a few minutes , and then washed off with water spray. Download TDS.

Met-L-Chek® WCP-81 – Fast Drying Aerosol Contrast Paint
WCP-81 is a specially formulated, fast drying white contrast paint. It is used to create a consistent background on the component surface to increase contrast for fine flaw detection with the black visible particles in MPI-80P. When dry, this white contrast paint is resistant to the wet method baths used for inspection. It is easily removed from the demagnetized component surface with a solvent cleaner such as R-504.
